In collaboration with Dr. Irvin Manuel Gonzalez,“las cosas que enter(r)amos” looks at the ways in which Latine social dance aesthetics are queered through migration, clubbing, and ritual. The duet, grounded in Latine social dance improvisations and performance, investigates queer bodies and queer clubs as ofrendas (altars). The work underscores Latin American social dance technologies of storytelling, grooving, sudor, confetti, hierbas, and altar-making, as sites of queer belonging and as methods to re-member queer bodies. The work situates queer dancefloors and nightlife as a space to archive queer ways of being honoring’s, migrations, and remembrance. We trace the residues of queer nightlife and pleasure to honor, reflect upon, and theorize how queer social dance movement acts as routes, mobilities, and archives for queer bodies.
